Wordless Wednesday: The Rose

Can you believe it is already that time of week again. It is Wordless Wednesday!

Today is a picture I took right in my back yard. To me this picture speaks volumes. A symbol of getting past the thorns of life to see the beauty. And while I could go on about what a rose means to me, I will let you find your own meaning. So what does this picture say to you?

The Rose - my favorite flower.
Now I probably have the blackest thumb of anyone I know, so when it comes to flowers, I can't make them grow. In fact, I am pretty sure I could even kill a plastic plant. However, it isn't my responsibility to keep the yard looking good. We have a gardener courtesy of the homeonwners. Which means I have a backyard full of beautiful roses... my favorite flower!

If you too would like to participate in Wordless Wednesday, check out Pictimilitude for information on how to submit!

  2. Gorgeous shot! I too am terrible at keeping plants alive...that job falls to my husband. We always get compliments on our yard and everyone thinks it's me doing the gardening but it's all him...

    1. Between my husband and I... well, let's just say we would be far better off having someone else do our gardening. We lucked out because alot of homeowners in California hire a gardener! :)

  3. Awesome and lucky you, because I don't have a gardener and do have black thumb. So the only kind of Roses I get and know are those that Kevin gets me from the florist, lol!! Beautiful picture and your garden sounds lovely!!

    1. They have about 4 or 5 rose bushes. They are my favorite flower! However I am lucky because it isn't up to me to keep them alive. I tried once and killed them all!

  4. I don't know what area you live in, but your rose is just gorgeous! We rented a house once that had a wonderful garden under all the weeds and we had the privilege to coax into bloom. It was amazing.

    1. We actually live in Southern California. Sadly right now all the roses are dead. This was taken last spring.

    1. This picture was actually taken last year. Everything out here is pretty gross right now and not really blooming. But it gives me hope that spring is around the corner! :)

  7. A rose by any other name ... is still a rose. Really a nice photo! Was that just taken, or taken during the summer months? Great job!

    1. It was taken last year. I wish the roses were blooming right now but sadly even in Southern California we have winter! :)

  8. I hope you didn't get TOO close, Stacy. I'd hate to think the poor thing died in vain for a photo op! :) Seriously, gorgeous pic!

  10. Gorgeous!!! The pink in that rose comes through beautifully among the green leaves all around it. For some reason, it makes me think about life and how we complicate things, when in reality - it isn't that complicated really. It's how we perceive it. So simple, yet so beautiful :)

    1. Well said. And I absolutely love the colors. I think I loved this one so much that I ended up grabbing a few other roses with it and putting them on a vase on my table. It is the simple things in life! :)
