Rhino The Hamster and his penthouse view! He seems to have made this his bedroom, even bringing up some of the bedding and some food for later! |
Yet, when Christmas came and there was no baby turtle under the tree, she was in tears. It was the only thing that she asked for.
Yesterday was her birthday. She turned 8. As an 8 year old, she is spoiled. She isn't really lacking in anything. So when it came to finding her a birthday gift, we were stumped.
So we got her a pet. Not just any pet... a hamster. We were going to get her a fish, but you would have to clean out the tank, you would have to plug the filter in... there was just no where to go with it.
So we opted for a hamster instead, and we even let her pick it out.
She had to go ahead and pick out the most hyper hamster in the cage. She said it fit with her personality. He is a character already, much like my daughter Bella.
So naturally, how could I not choose The Hamster Dance for Music Monday!
Happy Birthday to Bella and I hope all goes well with the hamster! Pets are fun...but sometimes I wish someone (other than me) was responsible for cleaning up after them. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Bella and i am with you on not getting a fish. You know our track record and since the last one at Christmas time, we haven't gotten another since. Love how the hamster matches her personality though and perfect song for today :) :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Happy birthday to Bella and good luck with the hamster. Hopefully it doesn't bite, lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Happy Birthday Bella! I had a gerbil when I was her age and I think a hamster is a great pet if a dog or cat isn't possible right now. What is the hamster's name?
ReplyDeleteI must be totally backwards. My parents tried to give me a horse for my 15th birthday and I told them NO! I wanted a motorcycle (which I bought). Now, I'm just the opposite...gimme a horse any day.
ReplyDeleteGlad she likes her pet. What a great birthday! An epic cake and a hamster. You rock, Stacy!
haha...good luck Stacy. Hamsters being nocturnal...you all will opt out from a good night's sleep or better yet you have a guard for the house...lol
ReplyDeleteMy kiddo has been asking for a pet and still debating on which animal..
Happy Birthday once again to Bella.
We actually bought a hamster for my daughters years ago. My wife, not the brightest bulb in the socket back then, got fed up with the exercise wheel going round and round one morning when she was trying to sleep and set the cage out on the front porch. When she went back for it later, the top had been shifted to one side and the hamster was gone. Funny thing was she was the only one that didn't seem to get emotional over it. Guess hamsters just weren't her thing. Hope you all have better luck! lol
ReplyDeleteI've never had a hamster before and I must admit when I visit friends and see them with their pet rats and hamsters I get slightly freaked out. I'm used to cats and big dogs. But I know how much joy looking after these little creatures, and can imagine how much fun your children will have with their new friend. :)
